A prayer to start with
Lord, You are the source of joy, and I’ve been looking for it in smaller places. Bring me near to You, where there is fullness of joy. Where I’m sowing in tears, help me trust that joy comes in the morning. Grow the fruit of Your Spirit in me, and let Your joy be my strength today, whatever this day holds. Amen.

Questions people ask
What is the difference between joy and happiness in the Bible?
Happiness tends to follow circumstances. Biblical joy is rooted in God’s presence and promises, so it can last through trials (James 1:2-3).
What does “the joy of the Lord is your strength” mean?
In Nehemiah 8:10 the people were grieving their failures. Nehemiah tells them to celebrate God’s goodness instead, because joy in Him would strengthen them.
Is joy a fruit of the Spirit?
Yes. Galatians 5:22 lists joy second, right after love. It’s something the Holy Spirit grows in you as you walk with God.
